The new Luton town hall was opened in 1936. In the mid 1930's Luton was home to Vauxhall Motors, Skefco Ball Bearing Company, Percival Aircraft and a host of nationally known industrial companies. These growing companies were a ready source of jobs for skilled and unskilled labour.
Thomas Kenneally was the first family member to arrive and he was quickly followed by all his siblings and his parents. Thomas secured a job with Vauxhall Motors and spent the rest of his working life with the company. His son, Thomas spent many years as a town councillor and had a significant input into the development of Luton International Airport. The Kenneally family still has strong connections with the town.
