Employed as a porter at righton Goods Station from Nov 1863 to Jan 1867. He was promoted in May 1866, earning one pound per week but dismissed in 1867 for giving a false statement.

Research Notes:
From The Vegetarian (London) December 1, 1894: The Congress re-assembled for the afternoon Conference at 3 p.m. when Mr. Isger (Treasurer of the Brighton Society) presided and delivered a short presidential address.
Served on the Steyning Board of Guardians and the Hove School Board amongst many other offices. He was elected Mayor of Hove in 1903 [as a Liberal Unionist, see 'The Times' Tuesday, Nov 11, 1902; pg. 12]
